I have been wanting USB power outlets for a few years now. Unfortunately, until recently a couple of specialty companies made them and the alternative was piecing one together with a dermal and a solder kit. Somehow plugging a $400 plus device into a homemade charger seems like a bad idea. The other day I saw that these USB power outlets have become more mainstream.  OWC is now selling them in 1, 10, 20, and even 50 packs and at a price point of $30 per outlet they are still a bit pricy, but a lot more reasonable than before.

I was so excited that OWC started to sell them that I randomly posted on Facebook, “If anyone is looking for a gift for me I could use some of these”. To my surprise, a couple days later I was contacted by an old high school friend (who will remain unnamed to protect her privacy). Turns out, her husband is the CEO of OWC and she offered to have some shipped to me, and within a few days a package of 2 was at my door! It might be a bit geeky but I have to admit having USB power outlets in the house is cool… having them for free is awesome… and getting them from the CEO of OWC is just geek-tastic! After installing them, we no longer need to fight over outlets to charge our devices and we have a pretty good story to share with anyone who visits and needs a bit of power. Thanks OWC!!!
