Thanks to the Brummet family, we got 6 tickets to LegoLand California in Carlsbad. For Scotia and me, this was our first time to Legoland. Yes, you would think a Lego enthusiast like myself would have season tickets. But alas, that is just not so. No, this was our first trip to this magical land, and I’d like to emphasize the word magical. As an adult, it’s sometimes difficult to recapture that feeling you used to get as a child on Christmas, or that first trip to Disneyland. Well, Legoland did a great job of making me feel just like that.
As for the rides… go to Magic Mountain if you’re looking for an exciting roller coaster. Legoland doesn’t have the most exhilarating or mind blowing coasters on the planet. In fact, they are actually barely worth the wait in line (luckily there were practically no lines for the first 3 hours). If you are interested in seeing Lego creations from full scenes out of Star Wars to giant replicas of U.S. cities, then you’re in luck. We used the picture of our family in front of Lego San Francisco as our Christmas card, and a few people thought we were really in San Francisco! We even took a short Lego class that showed us how to use the New Lego Mindstorms robotic legos that can do all sorts of crazy stuff. Check out this video of a Lego Mindstorm and an Android phone programmed to solve a Rubik’s Cube in record time.
We really had a great time at Legoland and would recommend kids and AFOL’s to visit if you want to be wowed by some intense Lego creations.
