Scotia and I recently bought a new Queen Size bed and had no headboard since we downsized from a CalKing. We couldn’t really find something we liked so we decided to make our own for under $50. We started off with a gigantic photo frame that I picked up years ago from a window display a Ann Taylor. We painted the frame to match the other bedroom furniture. We headed over to Jo-Ann’s and picked up some clearance fabric and batting. We bought some plywood from Home Depot and got to work on our headboard. We started off by cutting the plywood to fit into the back of the photo frame. Next, we glued numerous layers of batting to the plywood and then topped it off with the 70% off fabric we got from Jo-Ann’s. We ran staples all around the perimeter of the fabric, and then mounted the whole assembly to the back of the the newly painted frame. The extra batting looked great as it puffed out from the matting around the frame. We used L brackets on the top and bottom to attach the frame to the wall. We love the way the headboard turned out.
