Vectortuts+ is hosting a Community Project with a Custom Character Jam. I have been enjoying getting involved in online communities, contests, and promotions and this particular project looked like fun. The template Vectortuts+ provided (show below) caught my attention and I immediately thought of a recent tutorial I read on how to create a 3D Spray Can. Since the rules specified that I could do what ever I wanted I thought why stick with something flat.
Here are the rules:
- Artwork can be any style or theme as long as it’s vector and 100% your own work.
- You don’t have to spend hours and hours on your piece, the project’s aim is to be fun, fast and individual.
- You may submit more than one design
- When you publish your work on Facebook, please include one or two paragraphs about yourself and/or your work and a link to your website / online portfolio.
- Have Fun!
After reading through the rules I figured I was safe stepping out of the box a bit and creating my 3D robot. About half way through I named you illustration Marshy (since he reminds me of the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man from GhostBusters). I had alot of fun with this community project and look forward to getting involved in more. All the projects are posted on the Vectortuts+ Facebook fan page. I think the results turned out pretty good, what do you think?
